“Bucklers Mead Celebrates Outstanding Students”
On Thursday 24th September Parents and Pupils from all year groups gathered at Bucklers Mead Community School to celebrate some of the school’s hardworking and talented students. Many received awards for their outstanding contribution to a whole range of areas of school life from individual subjects to school music or sport. Special mention goes to Jess Childs and Jake Hobbs who received the Clive Gibbs and Terry Skiverton Awards for Sportsman and Woman of the Year, Dan White (PTFA Citizenship Award), Oliver Sadler (Areosystems ICT Award), Harriet Pike (Performing Arts Award), Simon Bishop (WRC Award). The Endeavour and Transition Awards went to Aaron Coles, Joseph Keen and Bryn White whilst the Effort and Acheivement Awards for KS3 and 4 were received by William Gane, Ryan Guppy, David Bell and Joseph Wyatt.
A number of teaching staff were also rewarded with Mrs Chapman being given the Pupils’ Teacher Award, Mrs Wilton was presented with the Support Staff Award and Mr Crisp receiving the Teachers’ Teacher Award. Augusta Westland received the Business Partner Award for their contribution to the school’s Business Education program.
Earlier this term Bucklers Mead School proudly hosted their annual Prefect Presentation Evening. Teachers were joined by parents and Year 11 pupils who had successfully become Prefects for their final school year. Subject Prefects, Peer Mentors and the Senior Prefect team were all rewarded in an evening highlighting the ongoing commitment these pupils have shown to school life. The Head Boy, Daniel Seager, Head Girl, Lisa Evans, and their Deputies, Gemma Tildsley and Aaron Athersuch (pictured with Headteacher Mike Featherstone) were officially unveiled as the school's most senior pupils. Head of Year 11, Mark Lawrence commented “These pupils have all worked extremely hard in a variety of different ways to become highly thought of ambassadors for Bucklers Mead School and are to be congratulated”.
